Artistic roller skating is a bit like figure skating/ice skating. The Winter Olympics shows coverage of pairs, freestyle solo and couples ice dance. Artistic skating has very similar rules and is judged similarly to figure skating.
The competitive team attached to The Lauren Jarvis School of Skating is Elite Artistic Skating Club.
Competitive skating at Elite is split into different teams according to the level of the skaters. Pro Team is the top team at Elite, these skaters are trained as high performing athletes to attend the GB Skate Artistic National Championships annually. They are hoping to qualify and be selected for international events, the GB international squad and to represent team GB in competitions abroad.
The Competition team is now up and running for the 2022 season! We have competitors aged 7-15 competing at regional level and at club competitions. These skaters have developed from Learn2Skate classes then began learning compulsory dances.
Skaters who are members of the Lauren Jarvis School of Skating will be considered for the competitive team at Elite Artistic Skating Club. This will be via selection, based on commitment, ability and coachability.
The best thing about artistic skating is the creativity athletes can bring to their performances and costumes. Freedances are routines where any music can be chosen, coaches come up with unique themes and choreography to different genres of music.
